Everything But the Kitchen Sink

You know that saying we packed everything but the kitchen sink?

Well its kind of funny because we have nothing for our house but our kitchen sink!  Can you see where my priorities have been?

A couple months ago after I posted this about the sink I wanted we decided to go and scope out a place my sister had told us about.  Moore Supply Company located in Humble, TX.  When we arrived we kind of walked around a bit and looked at a few things.  When were asked for help I told them we were looking for a farmhouse sink.  The lady pointed over to a corner where one was sitting on the ground and said, "like that?"

There is was, this white porceline sink that I daydream about way to much.  I asked her the cost and do you know what she told me?  "$500.00"  Are. You. Serious!!

Aaron and I looked at each other and almost in unison we said "We'll take it!!!"  We put a downpayment down and said we'd pick it up in a few more weeks.
So there you have it folks.  We have nothing, not even a house, but... we do have a kitchen sink!!!

Drool Heaven

Lately, I have been browsing the Internet for some lighting inspiration for our soon to be kitchen.  There are so many things that just race around this brain of mine that I want to do.  I emailed a company yesterday asking if they had anything for sale that is similar to this pinterest find.

They sent me quite a few to choose from and be still my heart did they send me a beauty.

Its so elegant yet has that rustic, shabby chic loveliness that I adore.  Upon researching some more I stumbled upon the rest of the collection and found this lovely.

Isn't she gorgeous. I just can't believe how much I love these fixtures.  Now lets see if I can convince the hubby that we have to have these in our future kitchen.  :)

If your wondering about these lanterns they are by Kichler Lighting

Good News/ Bad News

Today was our stake out for the property and in anticiption all morning I was waiting for the hubby's call to see how it went.

Finally.... the call came.

Hubby:  "You want the good news or the bad news" he said in a very montone voice.

Uh oh I thought.

Me: "The bad news, I guess."

Hubby:  "It's really friggin' cold outside.  haha.  The good news is were good to go, no more money out of our pocket!"

YAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!  Happy Dance!

So that means our land passed the stake out today to test the dirt, soil quality as well as the level from the street.  It has to be certian number of inches high from the road and a certain number of feet from the road to start building.

So long story short, were not going to have to come up with a gagillion dollars to bring in dirt like our neighbor had told us we would.  (dummy!)

So excited to get this building process started.

First Open House

This weekend I received a friendly email from none other than Ms. Martha over at Crystal Springs Venue in Magnolia, TX.  If you're not familiar with Crystal Springs, that is the venue that Aaron and I got married at almost a year ago!

Photos from Digital Solution Pro

She sent me a message through Facebook asking if I would like to be a vendor at her up and coming mini-open house.

"Whaaaa??? Me?? Seriously??"

I was so honored, excited, and happy that I accepted without asking the hubby first.  Well, I don't have to normally ask to do things like that but, it just so happens this open house falls on none other than our first anniversary....wah wah wah.

So when he came home I told him my plans and pleaded with my pretty blues, much to my dismay he said, "Go for it!"

So that's what I have been up to all week.  Planning for this first vendor show and I'll be honest,  I have no earthly clue what I am doing.  I've tried to remember what I liked and didn't like when I went to a few of these shows myself when I was a bride.  My first instinct is "Pretty."  If you have a pretty table that's what would draw me in right away.  Usually, that also meant it was out of my price range, but nonetheless it grabbed my attention, right?  So that's what I'm shooting for "Pretty and Organized"

So far I have my list made and have everything checked off that I need to a have except for two things.  Those I plan to tackle this weekend.

1. Banner- so that they know who I am, duh!
2. Table Cloth- to make the table, ya know, pretty
3. Price Sheet- so they know my pricing and if it will work with their budget
4. Order forms- just in case I get a few
5. Contact Sheet- so the brides can leave their information and I can follow up with them
6. A Raffle- I've decided to give away one free toss bouquet to a lucky bride
7. Bride Bouquets- I have two bride bouquets I will have on display
8. Bridesmaid Bouquets- I have two of these I will have on display too
9. Groomsmen Boutanierre- I have a few of these I can show
10. Flower Girl Flower- Because the flower girls look so cute in them
11. Corsages- for those lovely Grandmas, aunts, and Mommy's out there
12. Card Box- the beautiful card boxes I can make to add that extra touch to their wedding
13. Pomander- Because I have sold a few of these, and though they are a pain to make, they sell
14. Picture Book- I had an awesome picture book made that outlines all the work I have and can do
15. Business Cards- so they know who I am and who to call, email, shop and facebook stalk
16. Candy Dish- because all girls like chocolate right???

So what do y'all think ladies?  You think I have everything covered for the most part for my first wedding open house?   I am a bit nervous, cause I can tend to be shy but hopefully that wont be the case next Monday.

And thank you, thank you, to my amazing hubby for allowing me to follow my dreams and do what I love.

Happy Friday!!

Anniversary Ideas

This year has been a whirlwind, amazing, good time kind of ride.  I can't believe that in just a few weeks Aaron and  I will be celebrating our first year anniversary.  Where has the time gone.  Seriously?

I have to say as a newlywed that this first year has been amazing and I love being a married lady.  I still kinda get giddy when I introduce Aaron as my husband!  Will that ever wear off?  I'm sure it will one day but for now I'll enjoy.

I have to admit its been a crazy year but we've accomplished and seen a lot

1- Honeymooned in the beautiful Antigua.

2- Bought 5 acres to build our dream house on.

3- Cleared 1 acre to build our house.

4- Welcomed our sweet niece into the world

5- Cooked my first full Christmas dinner- and it was divine!! ( we had more than cookies!)

6- Have now started the actual building process of our dream home

Image from Precision Homes- (not our actual house)

7- adopted a sweet new baby girl fur-baby- (no pics yet, I know I stink)

8- Traveled to NY together for a friends wedding

9- Celebrated the life of my dad and the loss of him as well.

10- Grown Closer to each other in more ways than I could ever imagine.

With that being said, I feel that I need to find my handsome groom a great wedding anniversary gift.  I know the first year your supposed to buy something of paper.  I am a girl of tradition and I feel that I need to do this.  So, I have been searching near and far for a few things and these are a few things I've come up with.

So, what do y'all think?  Am I on the right track with this whole paper thing, or am I missing something?  Let me know. I'd love to hear your ideas!!

Last Year in my Twenties

I can't believe I just typed that out loud.  Yup, I said it.  It is my last year in my twenties.  I still can't really believe it.  I am 29. twenty. nine.  Yikes, when did that happen?  When did I decide to get so... old.
This year I decided to keep it very low key.  I haven't really been in the "partying" mood for a few months now.  Call it my lack of alcohol with the fertility medications I am on but I just wasn't feeling it.  Instead, I decided to just have a simple birthday get together at one of my favorite restaurants- Babin's and celebrate that way.
All of my most favorite people showed up and we enjoyed great conversation, some great food and some amazing ice cream cake my hubby surprised me with afterwards.  Too bad I have no pictures of any such celebration.  Such is life.

Saturday I spent the day with my favorite people while the hubby and brother in law worked all day on the property.  We are down to days before our steak out of the house so it has to be in tip top shape.  My sister, cousin Mike and the kiddos' (my niece and nephew) went out for a walk at Market Street and then finished the day with some well deserved ice cream from Marble Slab.  I have one word for you, well two actually- Chocolate. Devotion.  If you've never had it go. now.  Run if you can.  I decided to be crazy and add some walnuts to mine and let me tell you, it was amazing!!

Sunday, my actual birthday I woke up to my nephew singing happy Birthday Aunt Ci Ci in my ear.  I swear it doesn't matter how early it is, that kid can bring a smile to my face just by saying my name.  I wonder if my own future kids will have the same effect on me??

With the weekend winding down I have to admit I did get a bit sad thinking about my birthday.  For one, my dad wasn't hear to wake me up at 5 am singing happy birthday through my phone.  I think I will miss that every year until I meet him again in heaven.  It was really hard sitting at dinner without him there too, laughing his big belly laugh while sipping on a miller light.  I will try to remember the good that he brought to my life and that it is because of him I am here on this day.  And it is because of him I am the person I have grown to be.

So dad this birthday is for you.  And If I can live another 29 years and have the effect on peoples life like you have then I know I have done good.  I hope only to have an amazing family just like you brought up, to have a person by my side that loved me to my last breath and to have so many people look up to me, admire me, treasure my friendship and thoughts, and most of all loved me just for the person I am.

So here's to another 29 years.  29 Years of making memories,  29 years to make everlasting friendship and love, 29 years to meet and spend with my future children, 29 years to cherish with my husband, 29 years to travel the world and explore so many new and exciting things, and 29 years to live the best life I possibly can.  Because we all know too soon our time will be up and there will be nothing left but memories of our life- a celebration of who we are.

I love you dad, thank you for giving me life and a great life at that.
