Say "I Do" to the DIY Cake Topper
This is the first DIY project that I have decided to do after falling madly in love with a cake topper I just can't fathom spending the kind of money on they are asking for it. ($98.00)

Pretty isn't it?
So I decided after looking at so many bee's tacking their own DIY projects that I would try one myself. I'd like the think I am somewhat of a "crafty" girl so I got started.
I went to Hobby Lobby with one of my bridesmaids and was on a search. I found a graet deal on some cute swirly wooden letters and then began my search for beads! I am basing this cake topper on the cake topper inspiration as well as the cake that I adore.

So now I was on a misson to find a bit of purple, a bit of pearls, and a bit of sparkle beading for my topper. After gathering all of my beads, clear craft glue and this tool that picks up small beads (this was a life savor a lady in the aisle suggested) I was checking out. My total was $15.00! Yes!
So I started my project Saturday morning instead of doing some dreaded homework. I first laid out all my supplies, and grabbed some white paint I had around the house, a foam paint brush (its all I had) and some newspaper.
So the crafting began...I first laid out the newspaper and painted my letters. This took a long time because I wanted to make sure they were completely dry.
Once dry I began to add the beads....this bead picker upper thingy really came in handy for this part or else I think I would have worn more beads and glue than my letters did.
Picture is kind of blurry but you get the idea....nearly an hour later the first one is complete.
So I continued do so on the other two letters and this is the outcome!
So all I have left to do is add some small sticks to the backs of each letter so that they will stick into the cake.
What do you think? Do you think I accomplished what my pocket book originally couldn't afford?

How We Met!!
Aaron and I actually met through Gar, (Aaron's best friend) and Jennifer (Crystal's sister) about 5 year ago one night playing Jinga at Jen and Gar's apartment. And we have been pretty good friends ever since. Aaron, his sister and his mom spend many Holiday's with our family so that has always been pretty natural for everyone to be together. Our Family and friends told us all the time to get together but I thought of Aaron only as a friend, that and Aaron actually never just came out and told me himself that he liked me.. I just heard through the grapevine from everyone else. There were even instances at work when people thought we were a couple and the time I asked him to pretend to be my boyfriend and walk me to my car to save me from this creepy guy at one of our company parties. Eventually...I came to the realization that I just "might" like him too and tried to stop talking myself out of it. After about 4 and half years and one night out with friends -Heather and Noah, Aaron finally confessed his love to me while sitting alone at a picnic table (though neither one of us can remember exactly what he said- but he somehow made his point.) That night we sealed our love and affection to each other with a kiss! We have been inseparable since!
After dating, traveling, moving in together and falling more deeply in love with one another Aaron finally proposed on September 28, 2010.
Aaron took me on a romantic sunset picnic with their favorite foods and wine and after waiting til the sun was almost down he got down on one knee and said a bunch of stuff I can't remember and then finally asked me to be his wife. I remember nodded in agreement unable to speak until finally blurting out "Yes!" because he looked nervous, just as the sun went down and it became dark. After hugging and kissing I finally asked Aaron if we could go into some light so I could see my ring! That and... I had to Pee! ;)
Now they we planning a large yet intimate family and friend, fun filled, rustic wedding with some vintage charm at Crystal Springs, in Magnolia, Texas on February 25, 2012.
